At the risk of repeating myself, I will say this: There are only a couple of authors of shorter books/novellas that I have read so far that keep me absorbed in their story and not feel like it’s rushed and poorly put together with little depth.
Margot Scott is one and VT Bonds is the other.
From the very beginning of this book I was like “Oooh…I’m gonny like this one!”
TEAGAN
I wanted to jump in this book and wrap my arms around this girl.
She’s had it so rough and she’s only 18 years old – to the day.
She’s been abandoned by her father and neglected by her mother when she was little and since then has been passed around from foster home to foster home coming into contact with some of the worlds poorest excuses for foster parents.
It broke my heart at how tough she had to become to survive.
But the thing is, she still has hope.
There’s that tiny glimmer in the bottom of her heart that she might just be able to reconnect with her father and finally feel like she belongs.
An uncle pops up out of the blue and says he can help her move across the country to meet with her father again…but something about this guy just doesn’t sit right with me at all.
Maybe it’s because of my OCD and the disgusting state of his home, lol.
Anyway, Teagan just feels like no one could lover her and if anyone does feel kindness towards her then it will surely fade away very shortly. Breaks my heart.
